GLEN BURNIE, MD — Anne Arundel Police say two Glen Burnie men had a long-standing dispute that culminated April 15 with gunshots that left one man dead and the other charged with murder, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Authorities on Tuesday released the names of both men.

Police received a call about 7:10 a.m. Monday that shots had been fired in the 170 block of Virginia Lane in Glen Burnie. Officers found a deceased male later identified as Tyrique Hudson, 22, of the 100 block of Virginia Lane, dead from an apparent gunshot would. Hudson was inside the apartment building, but in a public area.

Witnesses told police they saw James Allan Verombeck, 53, who lived in the same apartment complex as Hudson, standing over the victim's body. Residents didn't know what the ongoing issue was about, but told officers Verombeck may have barricaded himself in the building.

For roughly 10 hours, Oakwood Road was closed as officers searched the Colonial Square Apartments for the gunman and Woodside Elementary School and Corkran Middle School students who normally walk home from two area schools instead had to be picked up at the end of classes by parents.

There was no threat to any county schools, and all schools dismissed at their normal times on Monday, Anne Arundel County Public Schools said.

This is still an active investigation and anyone with any information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 410-222-4731 or the TipLine 410-222-4700.
