The 47-year-old man was taken to Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Pasadena motorcyclist was taken to the University of Maryland's Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries after being thrown from his motorcycle April 15 at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The incident occurred in the area of Mountain Road and Ritchie Highway. John David Kaehler, Jr., 47, was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson Electra Glide westbound on Mountain Road towards Ritchie Highway. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed approaching the intersection for Southdale Shopping Center, the Anne Arundel County Police Department reported. The traffic signal changed to red and the operator attempted to stop but lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected, a report from the department stated. Kaehler and the motorcycle came to rest in the intersection.

According to the police department, the primary cause of the collision has been attributed to Kaehler driving his motorcycle at a high rate of speed and failing to stop for a steady red signal. The collision currently is being investigated by the Traffic Safety Section.
