Police: 67-Year-Old Man Shoots 25-Year-Old Girlfriend, Himself
Anne Arundel County Police say a man shot and killed his girlfriend during an argument, then killed himself as police arrived.
A 67-year-old man shot and killed his 25-year-old girlfriend, then himself, after a fight at their Pasadena home Tuesday afternoon, Anne Arundel County police said.
Charles Benton White, 67, argued with his girlfriend, Elizabeth Leigh Thorpe, 25, before he shot her and then turned a long gun on himself, police said. The two lived together in the 8000 block of Highpoint Road where the shooting took place.
Officers were called to the house about 2:19 p.m. They arrived to find that Thorpe had been shot and her body was lying at the bottom of the basement steps. A witness tried to get the weapon from White after he shot Thorpe but was unsuccessful, police said, at which point White fatally shot himself in the upper torso.
