Police Identify Human Remains Found Along Glen Burnie Stream

Human remains found in October in Marley Creek in Glen Burnie have been identified as a woman reported missing, police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Human remains found in October 2018 along the shoreline of Marley Creek in Glen Burnie have been confirmed by DNA testing as Melanie Faith Meleney. Anne Arundel County Police say Meleney was reported missing on Oct. 13, and was likely last seen a day before.

The Anne Arundel County Homicide Unit is working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of the injuries Meleney suffered.

Meleny's remains were discovered on Oct. 23 by a woman walking her dog in the 1400 block of Furnace Avenue. She came upon the human remains behind a church and along the shore of Marley Creek, according to police spokesman Officer Marc Limansky. The remains found by the passerby were "a lower extremity," he said.
