Police Impersonator Pulls Driver Over In Glen Burnie: Officers

A police impersonator pulled a driver over on a Glen Burnie highway, officers said. The suspect had a flashing light around her windshield.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A police impersonator recently pulled a driver over in Glen Burnie, county authorities said. Nobody was hurt during the illegal traffic stop.

The encounter happened Sunday around 1 a.m. near westbound Maryland Route 100 at Ritchie Highway, a press release said. The victim reported seeing a black Mercedes-Benz driven by a woman weaving through traffic.

Officers said the Mercedes driver got behind the victim's car and activated a blue and red flashing light that was located around the windshield. The victim pulled over, and the Mercedes drove up beside the driver.

Police alleged the suspect then rolled down her window, "indicated that they were 'a cop'" and drove away. Authorities said the suspect is a woman between 25 and 30 years old.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said it heard about the case Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The agency is still investigating.
