Police Respond To Two Weekend Robberies In Glen Burnie

Anne Arundel County Police reported two robberies occurring in Glen Burnie over the weekend at the 7-Eleven and Big Laundromat Lavanderia.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Two separate robberies occurred in Glen Burnie over the weekend. The Anne Arundel Police Department reported that at approximately 11:30 p.m. July 20, officers responded to 7753 B&A Blvd. where a victim reported being approached by a suspect at the 7-Eleven.

The suspect asked him for money and when the victim pulled out his wallet, the suspect grabbed the wallet and they began to struggle over it. During the struggle, the suspect dropped his cell phone on the ground. The suspect left the scene of the incident, but when he returned to look for his cell phone, the police were approximately one block away and arrested him. Eric Eugene Powell Jr., 21, of Severn has been charged with robbery, second degree assault and theft in the incident, police reported.

On July 19 at approximately 7:40 p.m., officers responded to the report of a robbery at the Big Laundromat Lavanderia located at 7560 Ritchie Highway. The victim walked into the business to cash checks and while walking back to his car, a suspect approached him, brandished a handgun and demanded money, telling the victim that he knew he had just cashed checks, the police reported.

The victim handed over a small amount of cash from his wallet, then the suspect demanded his car and any other valuable he had with him. The victim said no and began to scream, prompting the suspect to flee. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Northern District detectives at 410-222-6135 or the TipLine at 410-222-4700.
