Recovery Anne Arundel Holds Overdose Memorial Event Aug. 30
Recovery Anne Arundel will host its fourth annual International Overdose Day Friday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in Glen Burnie along with a vigil
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Recovery Anne Arundel will host its fourth annual International Overdose Day Friday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at Arundel Christian Church, 710 Aquahart Rd., Glen Burnie. The candlelight vigil will begin at dusk.
Observed on Aug. 31 every year, the hope of International Overdose Day is to raise awareness of and reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths, as well as to remember those who have died or suffered permanent injury because of drug overdose and stimulate discussion about overdose prevention and drug policy.
Chris McCabe with Chrysalis House will serve as master of ceremonies and a memorial slide show with the names of those who lost the battle against addiction. Members of fire, police and crisis response teams will be present to talk to attendees, as will Anne Arundel County Police Chief Tim Altomare and Jennifer Wheeler with New Life Addictions Counseling Services.
