Reisterstown Driver Dies In Glen Burnie Crash

A Reisterstown driver died in a Glen Burnie crash, and his passenger was hospitalized, police say.

GLEN BURNIE, MD – A Reisterstown driver died, and his passenger was hospitalized, following a Glen Burnie crash Wednesday night, according to Maryland State Police. The one-vehicle accident happened shortly after 8:15 p.m. on I-97 South at MD 648.

Both the driver and the passenger were trapped in the vehicle with multiple injuries, authorities say.

The driver, Rommel Reyes Benitez, 21, of Reisterstown, was taken to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The passenger, Marcus Moore, 19, of Hampstead, was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore for treatment.

Investigators say Benitez' vehicle was speeding and he was driving recklessly before the crash. The collision is still under investigation.
