SECU NAMES EMPLOYEES OF THE YEAR
SECU – Maryland's largest credit union – has named Darlene Scarborough and Steve Novak its 2015 Employees of the Year.
SECU – Maryland’s largest credit union – has named Darlene Scarborough and Steve Novak its 2015 Employees of the Year for their significant contributions to the organization’s continued strong performance. The awards were presented to them during a SECU Leadership Team Meeting in April.
As a Branch Manager, Scarborough has made SECU’s Towson Branch one of the credit union’s top performing retail branches. Under her leadership, the Towson Branch staff exceeded their exceptional engagement goals for the past year, while four members of her team received promotions.
Scarborough has also worked diligently to promote SECU’s brand and core values through her involvement in a wide range of internal and external activities, including participation in mock interview days and financial literacy presentations at local schools, involvement in the Hunt Valley Business Forum and Baltimore County Chamber, and serving as Senior Lead Advisor on the Advisory Council to SECU’s Assistant Vice President of Retail Banking.

Novak, Manager of Business Analysis, Lending Administration, serves as the primary resource for development and enhancement of the Lending Division’s reporting and data analytics models. Charged with ensuring quality outputs that are presented to SECU’s Board and Executive Leadership team, Novak identified efficiency improvements in SECU’s Velocity loan system, and streamlined the processing and underwriting of small-to-medium sized loans.
Over the past year, Novak also took on additional responsibilities for lending administration monitoring and reporting functions, identifying and implementing process enhancements in each area.

“Steve’s efforts have shown him to be a valued asset, not just for the Lending Division but to the entire SECU organization,” says SECU Vice President of Human Resources Rod Flowers, “while Darlene’s drive for creating partnerships, developing employees, exceeding goals, and representing SECU proudly are all reasons she deserves this recognition. Congratulations to both Darlene and Steve.”
