Suspected Shoplifter Cuts Sears Employee with Knife in Getaway

A man suspected of shoplifting at the Sears store in Glen Burnie's Marley Station Mall is wanted by police.

An employee at the Sears store at Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie suffered a small cut on the head when a suspected shoplifter swung a knife at store workers who tried to detain him.

Officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department were called to the Sears store Wednesday about 2:14 p.m. Employees told officers that when they detained a person for shoplifting, he showed a knife to them, and then swung it at an employee in an attempt to flee the store, cutting an employee.

The suspect then fled from the store in a waiting vehicle. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect, described as a white man in his 30s, 5’8” to 5’10” tall with a medium build, fair complexion with black short hair and unshaven wearing navy blue jeans/pants, blue/red/white plaid shirt, black shoes, and a black Orioles baseball cap.

The store employee was treated on the scene by responding medical personnel.
