Thieves Who Took Copper from BG&E Substation May Be Injured
Thieves stole copper wire from a Baltimore Gas and Electric substation Sunday, and have suffered extensive burns doing so.

Hospitals are on the lookout for burn victims after thieves stole copper wire from a Baltimore Gas and Electric substation, causing a power outage and possibly burning themselves.
Anne Arundel County Police officers were called to the BG&E substation in the 700 block of Cabin Branch Lane in Linthicum about 10 a.m. Sunday on a burglary report.
A representative from BGE told police he responded to the substation for a power outage that occurred at about 5:20 a.m. The employee discovered copper wiring was taken, which caused the power outage.

As a result of the copper wiring coming in contact with a live part of the structure, authorities said it is possible that the suspects suffered obvious burns. Area hospitals are being asked to be on the lookout for anyone seeking medical attention for
extensive burns caused by extreme heat and/or electricity.

Anyone who was in the area of the 600 block of Camp Meade Road South and may have witnessed a suspicious vehicle or activity is urged to call the department’s metal theft unit at 410-222-6003 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
The total value of the missing wire is unknown at this time.
