Two Fires, Three Crashes Reported In Glen Burnie Aug. 3-4
Anne Arundel County firefighters were busy this past weekend assisting with a box truck fire, apartment fire and three vehicular wrecks.
GLEN BURNIE, MD — Anne Arundel County firefighters were busy in Glen Burnie this past weekend with two fires and two crashes. Both vehicular accidents resulted in life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, a 19-year-old female sustained serious and possibly life threatening injuries after she fell from a motorized scooter. The incident occurred near Marley Neck Blvd. and Creekside Village Blvd. at approximately 3:21 p.m. She was transported by paramedics to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
A small box truck containing cargo caught on fire in the northbound lanes of Interstate 97 near Interstate 695 at approximately 5:43 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. Firefighters used foam to contain the fire, which took approximately an hour to completely extinguish. The Maryland Department of the Environment was called to the scene for clean-up.

A 23-year-old sustained serious and possibly life-threatening injuries after he crashed his motorcycle into the back of a sedan Sunday, Aug. 4. The accident occurred at Mountain Road and Jumpers Hole Road. Paramedics transported the man to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
At approximately 7:55 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Glen Burnie Barrack responded to a motorcycle crash along Interstate-695 at Maryland Route 2. The driver of the motorcycle, Brian Okeith Norris, 34, of Parkville, Md., was pronounced deceased at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A three-story multi-family apartment building caught on fire Sunday night at approximately 9 p.m. A resident reported a burned out bathroom fan that was "sizzling" in Apartment L. Firefighters discovered an active fire in the attic of the building, located at 7910 Silent Shadow Ct. It took firefighters 30 minutes to get it under control and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit.
