UM BALTIMORE WASHINGTON MEDICAL CENTER HOSTS BLOOD DRIVE

UM
Baltimore Washington Medical Center is hosting an American Red Cross blood
drive on Friday, December 13 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 301 Hospital Drive in
Glen Burnie in the Dr. Constantine Padussis Conference Center, located on the
third floor of the medical center. To give blood, donors must be healthy, at
least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood in the
last 56 days or donated double red cells in the last 112 days.

First-time donors should bring their
driver’s license or two other forms of identification with them, as well as a
list of any medications they are currently taking. Those who have donated
before should bring their donor card. After checking in, each donor will
receive a mini-physical, which consists of answering questions during a
confidential interview, as well as having their temperature, hemoglobin level,
blood pressure and pulse checked. Following the donation process, donors can
spend a few minutes enjoying refreshments.

Questions regarding donor eligibility should
be directed to the American Red Cross at 1-866-236-3276. To schedule an
appointment to make this life-saving donation, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or UM
Baltimore Washington Medical Center’s Marketing and Communications Department
at 410-787-4367.
