Cool Kids Campaign 5K Color Run, Sat., Nov. 15, 2014
The Color Run 5k is a unique experience focused less on speed and more on crazy color fun with friends and family. Color runners come from all different ages, shapes, sizes, and speeds; but everyone toeing the start line has a blast. The Cool Kids Campaign is the charity recipient for both Baltimore Color Run races at Camden Yards on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014. A donation is made for every volunteer recruited. A large number of volunteers are needed the day of the races starting at 7 a.m. or at 11 a.m. to help with color zones/color cleanup, course direction, en-route aid/water station, festival help, at the start & finish line, check-in, and parking. In addition, volunteers are needed the Thurs. and Fri. preceding the race to help with packet pickup. Volunteers must be 15 years of age or older. Lilly Pond Foal Rescue
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find homes for neglected, abused, unwanted, and orphaned foals and other equines that are at risk of going to slaughter. Volunteers are needed to complete special projects as well as general type barn work. Volunteers may offer a few hours of time just for a day or sign up for a spot on our weekly /monthly schedules. Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic
Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic seeks wish-granting volunteers! Work in teams of two to meet with wish families, help children discover their most heartfelt wish, and enhance the wish experience. This is a long term volunteer opportunity. Must be 21 years of age; application process, cleared background check and training class are required. Lutheran Mission Society
Mission statement: “Bringing health and wholeness to people through the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.” Programs provide walk-in clients with groceries, clothing, some health services, Christian counseling and spiritual support. Mane Event at Andover Equestrian Center
Mane Event is a non-profit corporation that gives lessons in horsemanship and horseback riding to children and adults with a wide range of emotional, cognitive and physical disabilities. These therapeutic riding lessons are conducted under the supervision of a PATH International certified instructor. In addition to therapeutic riding, The Center also offers hippotherapy, equine facilitated therapy for riders with specific and prescribed therapy goals. Hippotherapy sessions are led by a licensed physical, occupational or speech therapist. Volunteers are used in certain capacities in both therapeutic riding and hippotherapy to provide assistance to the rider/client and to manage/control the horse. The Little Things for Cancer
The Little Things for Cancer is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for cancer patients and their caregivers. We serve patients and their caregivers who live and/or are being treated in Maryland. We offer support to each family based upon their particular needs at that time. Our goal is to improve the quality of life by reducing stress and anxiety for the person affected by cancer and those closest to them. University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center
University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center’s Auxiliary/Volunteer Program is service-based and dedicates hours to most departments within the medical center. Duties can range from escorting patients and visitors, filing, entertaining patients with games and puzzles, answering the phone and running errands to other departments. Auxiliary/volunteers can also assist medical floors through Serving Spoons, a program that trains individuals to help feed patients. Auxiliary/volunteers also sponsor fundraising activities throughout the year and manage the hospital’s gift shop. Auxiliary members also serve in different areas of the hospital, such as the Gift Shop, Mailroom and Business Office. Wiley H. Bates Legacy Center
The Center exists to preserve and present the history of the Wiley H. Bates High School by designing and installing exhibits highlighting accomplishments of Bates alumni and faculty. There is an ongoing need for volunteers, age 14 and up, to conduct exhibit tours and learn to become docents at the Center. Volunteers will receive orientation training and must have the ability to speak clearly, a willingness to learn, and an interest in history as well as a general knowledge of the community.
