Woman Reports Being Raped In Woods By Ritchie Highway: Police

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A woman reported being raped Wednesday afternoon in the 6300 block of Ritchie Highway. She told Anne Arundel County police officers that she was walking south on Ritchie Highway against northbound traffic when a man came out of the nearby woods. He grabbed her by the arm and forced her into the woods. Even though she tried to fight back, the man told her he had a weapon and threatened her life. According to a police report, the woman was then sexually assaulted.

Anne Arundel County detectives searched the area looking for a man wearing a black ski mask, black sweater, black sweatpants and white shoes. They also looked for additional witnesses and digital evidence. They are now asking for the public's help, since there was heavy vehicle traffic in the area at the time of the rape and someone might have seen something, the department noted.
