Join Your Neighbors in Supporting Wind Power and Reel & Meal

Join 300 of your neighbors in supporting wind power through your electricity bill and Clean Currents will make a donation to Reel and Meal.

Over the past 4 years, Greener in Greenbelt (a grassroots group of Greenbelt community members) has helped over 300 Greenbelt residents switch their electricity supply to wind power. Collectively these residents have reduced the city’s carbon footprint by the equivalent of planting over 65,000 trees! They have also played an instrumental role in helping the City of Greenbelt apply for EPA Green Power Community status—a national recognition which only 46 municipalities in the country have achieved thus far.

Within minutes, you can join your neighbors in switching to wind power too! You can make the switch at www.cleancurrents.com. When you make the switch, every time you pay your electricity bill, your money will go towards wind power that is being fed onto the grid instead of dirty fossil fuel sources. If you make the switch by June 15th and mention “Greener in Greenbelt”, Clean Currents will donate $30 to Reel & Meal at the New Deal Cafe, a program which offers free film screenings and a vegan buffet at the New Deal Café every third Monday of the month. In 10 more people make the swtich by June 15th, Clean Currents will donate another $500 to Reel and Meal.

Reel and Meal is hosting its 68th screening on June 24th. Learn more at http://www.newdealcafe.com/events/reelAndMeal/. Thus far, the program has relied on generous donations from the committee and the audience. They would love to have more funds to continue the program and expand their film options. Greener in Greenbelt and the Reel and Meal committee ask you to please join your neighbors in making the switch to wind power, and contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more informed community,
