Documentary Film 'Hard Way Home' at the Utopia Film Festival

A Personal Journey through the Appalachian Trail

A compelling documentary entitled Hard Way Home will be featured at the Utopia Film Festival on Sunday, October 26 at the Greenbelt Arts Center.

Hard Way Home explores a young woman’s efforts to let go of her haunted past by undertaking a daunting challenge: thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. Thousands of hikers attempt this feat every year but fewer than 20% actually complete it. On her 6-month journey to beat these odds, filmmaker Kori Feener covered more than 2,000 miles, tested her physical capabilities, connected with like-minded travelers, and ultimately opened a new chapter in her life. She engages the audience to join her on this life-changing experience through personal storytelling and a cinema verite style of shooting. The Utopia Film Festival – now in its 10th year – presents quality independent films that entertain and enlighten audiences, including films that focus on topics like community building, cultural diversity, and environmental issues. Tickets cost $5 and are available at the door.
