Shop Healthy: Summer Soups & Smoothies

Join us on Wednesday, August 24th from 7 to 8:30pm at the Greenbelt Youth Center and learn how to create refreshing summer soups and smoothies. During the dog days of late summer it’s nice to have simple, cooling meals that don’t require turning on the stove or oven. Cold soups and smoothies are wonderful for any meal, but are especially nice for a packed lunch. Just pour your blended delight into a thermos and you’re ready to go! This workshop will teach you how to incorporate a variety of fresh and frozen fruits and veggies and fresh herbs into simple, yet tasty recipes. Of course samples will be provided!

“Shop Healthy” is a quarterly program designed to educate its patrons about the benefits of whole foods and healthy living. Certified Nutritional Consultant and Health Coach, Kim Rush Lynch, and Whole Foods Chef and Produce Manager, Ellen Siegel, have designed a variety of health and food education programs designed to help shoppers create healthier meal plans and lifestyles. In addition, these programs are an opportunity to learn more about the Co-op's natural and organic foods offerings. The programs are free; however, registration is required. Call 301.474.0522, ext 205 or send an email to membership@greenbelt.coop by August 23rd.
