Greenbelt Celebrated Earth Day 2015
On April 18, over 50 volunteers celebrated Earth Day by volunteering to a cleanup the Indian Creek Watershed in Greenbelt, MD.

Thanks to the 51 volunteers (including 5 City Staff members) who participated in the Earth Day Watershed Cleanup of the Indian Creek Watershed in Greenbelt, MD on April 18, 2015. The event was sponsored by the City of Greenbelt in partnership with the Chesapeake Education, Arts & Research Society and the Alice Ferguson Foundation.
In total, volunteers collected 25 large bags of recyclable materials, 23 bags of trash, and 759 pounds of bulk trash! The most common item collected was plastic bottles. Some of the other items collected include a bicycle, several shopping carts, and a few car tires. This would not have been possible without the help of such hard-working volunteers.

Volunteers are needed to help with setting up and cleaning up, leading children’s games and activities, fundraising for CHEARS, and monitoring the Green Team / Green ACES zero waste efforts during the 11th Annual Greenbelt Green Man Festival. If you’re interested in volunteering, please confirm your availability by registering here.
High school students are encouraged to bring community service forms for graduation requirements.
