Police to Canvass Community in Attempted Abduction Investigation

Authorities say a suspect tried to drag a teenager into some woods in Upper Marlboro. Investigators will be back in Upper Marlboro Friday.

Prince George’s County Police will canvass an Upper Marlboro neighborhood Friday night as they investigate the reported attempted abduction of a 16-year-old girl.

Detectives are working to identify the suspect in the case. They will begin their canvass at 5 p.m. near the 1700 block of Robert Lewis Avenue.

A man grabbed the teenager about 5 p.m. Thursday in that area as she walked by a basketball court on her way home. Police say the girl pulled away from the suspect as he tried to force her into nearby woods. She was not hurt.
