Roosevelt's Class of 2011 Crosses the Finish Line
About 600 students graduated from Roosevelt High School Friday.

Many have said that high school graduation marks the first day of the rest of your life. For the 2011 Class of , the commonly-used expression rang true.
The graduating class, comprised of approximately 600 students, donned their blue and white caps and gowns at Friday's commencement ceremony, held at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center.
Principal Reginald McNeill attributed the success of this year's graduating class to their surrounding community of supporters.

"We are fortunate to have a strong relationship with our city council and the City of Greenbelt. ... It has to be the best [relationship] in the nation!" he said.
Several dignitaries from the state and county government and City of Greenbelt elected officials presided over the graduation processional of the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance." They included State Sen. Joanne Benson (D-District 24), Del. Justin Ross (D-District 22), Del Carolyn Howard (D-District 24), Prince George's County Councilwoman Ingrid Turner (D-District 4), Greenbelt Mayor Judith Davis, Mayor Pro Tem Emmett Jordan and Council member Edward Putens.

Four representatives of the Prince George's County Public Schools were there to show their support as well: Board of Education member Peggy Higgins, Superintendent William R. Hite Jr., Assistant Superintendent of the High School Consortium Monica Goldson and High School Consortium Director William Barnes.
