School Boundary Changes Topic of Public Forums

Prince George’s County Public Schools will host public forums to discuss possible changes to school boundaries, grade structures, and programs, and to gather community feedback.

The sessions will be held:

• Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Thomas Claggett Elementary School, 2001 Addison Road in District Heights
• Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Kenmoor Middle School, 2500 Kenmoor Drive in Landover

The following options will be presented:

• Consolidation of Thomas Claggett Elementary School in District Heights into John Bayne Elementary School in Capitol Heights and District Heights Elementary School
• Establishment of a new Early Childhood Center at Kenmoor Elementary School in Landover
• Moving grade 6 from Woodmore Elementary School in Mitchellville to middle school
• Refinement of the service areas for Hyattsville Middle CPA and Northwestern High VPA programs

The chief executive officer will use input from these forums to propose a set of improvements to the Board of Education. Prior to a vote by the board, formal public hearings will be held to seek additional community input on the CEO’s recommendations.
