$6K in Marijuana Found During Harford County Traffic Stop on I-95: Police

Police said a loaded handgun as well as 2 pounds of pot were found when a man was pulled over for speeding in Harford County.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A Dundalk man is facing drug and weapons charges after police pulled him over for speeding on Interstate 95 in Harford County, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) reported.

Kyle Jamal Wilkerson, 29, of the 2000 block of Larkhall Road, was driving a 2000 Lexus RX 300 on Friday, Jan. 27, when he was stopped for allegedly exceeding the speed limit, according to the MDTA Police.

The violation occurred in the area of I-95 at mile marker 82, according to MDTA Police spokesman Lt. Kevin Ayd.

During a probable cause search, officials said they found 2 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of $6,000, as well as a loaded gun and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Police said Wilkerson was reportedly on his way from Baltimore to New York.

Wilkerson was charged with having a handgun in his vehicle, possession of drugs other than marijuana, possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana, engaging in drug trafficking with a firearm, distributing drugs with a firearm, having a handgun on his person, possession with intent to distribute narcotics and four counts of paraphernalia.

He was held on $5,000 bail at the Harford County Detention Center until Saturday, at which point court records show he was released. Wilkerson is slated to appear in Harford County District Court on Feb. 28.
