$25K Damage To Apartment Sparked By Attic Fire

ABERDEEN, MD — A fire broke out at an apartment in Aberdeen shortly after midnight Sunday.

The fire ignited at a three-story garden-style apartment building located in the 1400 block of Perrywood Drive in Aberdeen. It was discovered by a resident of the apartment.

Upwards of two dozen firefighters from the Aberdeen Fire Department spent 20 minutes gaining control of the fire, which was traced to the interior attic.

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal has ruled the fire as accidental due to an electrical failure in the attic. Investigators have determined estimated loss to be around $25,000.
