Man Wanted For Theft Arrested Getting Off Harford Transit Bus

An 18-year-old wanted in the theft of a gun in Edgewood was arrested as he disembarked a bus in Aberdeen that was headed to Baltimore.

EDGEWOOD, MD — An 18-year-old suspect in a firearms theft was arrested after he disembarked a Harford Transit bus bound for Baltimore.

On June 4, Harford County deputies were called to the 1800 block of Harbinger Trail in Edgewood for a report of a firearm theft. Detectives identified 18-year‑old Elijah Nana Djan Bonse as the suspect and obtained related search warrants.

On June 5, detectives with the county sheriff's office's crime suppression unit carried out surveillance on Bonse and saw him board the Harford Transit bus. They followed him as he headed to the Aberdeen MARC Train Station with the intention of getting on a bus headed to Baltimore, according to the sheriff's office.

Detectives apprehended Bonse as he climbed off the bus. He was searched and detectives recovered a handgun optic, known as a red dot sight, reports show.

County sheriff's deputies, along with the CSU and additional members of the special operations division, executed a court-ordered search warrant at Bonse’s home in the 1500 block of Harford Square Drive. Investigators recovered the stolen handgun, a rifle with an obliterated serial number, loaded magazines and additional ammunition, according to the sheriff's office.

Bonse was taken to the Harford County Detention Center, where he was charged with multiple firearm‑related offenses and held without bail.
