• Tar spot is still evident, but at much lower levels (americanfarm.com) — Corn growers around Havre de Grace are seeing far less tar spot disease this season than in last year's severe outbreak, according to a University of Maryland Extension agent. Warmer summer temperatures have helped suppress the fungus, and current infection levels are unlikely to hurt yields, though farmers with very late-planted corn are advised to keep scouting as temperatures cool.
