Founded in honor of Steve Settle, Jr.'s late father, the Settle Memorial Fund has donated more than $175,000 to HBCUs in the past seven years.

This year, Morehouse College will receive $25,000 in funding to create a new film and nutrition station for its athletic teams, organizers shared.

Steve Settle, Jr., founder of SettleHelps, told Patch that more than 100 golfers participate in the 18-hole memorial golf tournament. Sponsorships also are still available and can be secured online. Registration also is open for the golf tournament, which is suitable for all levels of golfers. There are spots for single golfers and two-person teams.

"The Country Club at Woodmore is one of the best courses in Maryland. Our tournament is open to all levels and ages. We will also have a putting contest for those that want to participate, but not play the entire course," Settle told Patch.

Aside from the comradery enjoyed during the golf tournament, golfers also appreciate the fact that they're having an impact on HBCUs and students.

"We love working together with other like minded people to make an impact on our HBCUs and are grateful to those that have supported us over the past seven years," Settle said.

Golfers will receive a catered lunch by Dat Jerk Caribbean Chargrill, as well as beverages on the course and prizes for first, second and third place for each flight.

The Country Club at Woodmore is located at 12320 Pleasant Prospect, Mitchellville.
