ABINGDON, MD — A Harford County man who regularly plays the Maryland Lottery scored his biggest win yet, recently claiming a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize.
The player bought the winning ticket at Carroll Fuel, 4 Bel Air South Parkway in Bel Air, according to the Maryland Lottery.
He purchased nine number combinations for $6, and one matched all five numbers drawn. The win came just days after he also cashed in on Pick 3.
"I won on Pick 3 the other night," the player told lottery officials.
The Abingdon resident was among the players who picked 555 for the drawing, which paid $500 on a $1 wager and $250 on a 50-cent wager.
A regular player of several Lottery games, the Harford County resident told lottery officials the appeal is simple.
"It's a chance to win and it's fun," he said.
The $50,000 prize will go into savings while he and his wife decide how to spend it, although some of the money likely will be used for repairs and upgrades around their home, the Abingdon man said.
The winner also plans to celebrate the prize with a night out with his family.
Carroll Fuel also will receive a $500 retailer bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
