STREET, MD — A new playground will greet students at Dublin Elementary School, replacing equipment that has reached the end of its lifespan.
However, while the old equipment will be removed, a piece of the school's history will remain. The school's metal slide, the last of its kind, dates back to the days of Dublin High School, according to Harford County Public Schools. That slide will be transformed into a memory garden to honor the school's history.
"The new playground represents much more than new equipment. It is a place where friendships will be built, imaginations will flourish and students will create memories that will last a lifetime. Together, this project reflects what can be accomplished when local government, community organizations, parents and supporters work toward a common goal," Harford County Public Schools leaders stated.
The Harford County government, Harford County Parks and Recreation, the Dublin Elementary School PTA past and present members, and the source of a grant were credited with helping the new playground reach fruition.
"This investment in our children demonstrates the power of community partnerships and underscores a shared commitment to supporting the health, wellness and development of future generations," the school district stated.
