Another New Series from Havre de Grace Patch
We introduce our artists series as the Decoy Festival approaches

My grandmother introduced me to art at a young age.
She had easels all over her living room. Paint, chalk and brushes were everywhere.
I took some classes in high school and at Harford Community College, but I was never much more than your average art student.

Some people have it from an early age.
Others work at it.

Nancy Welsh may be a little of both.
I'm not alone in knowing a dedicated, passionate local artist. In fact, I know a few. My mother-in-law, Bev Browning, is a fantastic painter. My sister-in-law, Meg Browning, is a fashion designer. My wife and her father are musicians.
Art surrounds us here in Havre de Grace.
And with the designation of the city as an Arts and Entertainment District a few years back, it's almost a lock the city will remain an arts hub for years to come.
So the staff here at Patch has set out to profile many of the talented artists in our community. The painters, decoy carvers, musicians, craftspeople, designers, writers, and artistic geniuses that grace our city will be highlighted .
We hope to hear from you as we search for all the un-covered gems in the local arts world.
As is with all of our content, don't be afraid to reach out with feedback, suggestions, tips and criticisms.
As the Decoy and Wildlife Festival sits just around the corner, we'll be churning out a bunch of these in the coming weeks. But we hope this becomes one of the real staples of Havre de Grace Patch, as we attempt to highlight all the talent Havre de Grace has to offer.
