Among the scholarships was one honoring a student who passed away in August 2005 and would have been a member of the Class of '11 -- Jared Werneke. His sister, Audrey Werneke, presented two scholarships for a total of $2,203 in memory of Jared, who, she said, loved football, basketball and math, and had plans of joining the military.
She presented the awards to two seniors who were members of clubs and captained athletic teams at Havre de Grace—Grant McFarland and Chris Castillo.
