Baby Delivered at Amtrak Station in Aberdeen
A train passing through Aberdeen received an extra passenger.

ABERDEEN, MD – A train made an emergency stop in Aberdeen over the weekend so that a mother could deliver her baby, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Sheera Lowe of Philadelphia was due to have her baby on March 4, but when she left Penn Station in Baltimore, she began to experience contractions, police reported.
First responders were called to the Aberdeen train station in the unit block of East Bel Air Avenue at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, and found Lowe in labor, police said.

With assistance from Aberdeen medics, Trinity Christina Stokes came into the world at 6:01 p.m., weighing in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
Mother and daughter were taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center afterward, according to officials, and the train continued on to New York.

Police said Trinity’s middle name—Christina—is the same as a passenger who helped comfort Sheera Lowe during the process of childbirth.
