Boys Lacrosse: Warriors Win Susquehanna Division

Two-goal lead at half becomes 9-3 victory.

The Warriors boys lacrosse team used seven different goal-scorers to beat Rising Sun, 9-3, Wednesday evening and wrap up the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference Susquehanna Division title.

Havre de Grace finishes the regular season 8-4 overall and 6-1 in the Susquehanna Division. The Warriors will play in the UCBAC championship game against the yet-to-be-determined Chesapeake Division champs on May 10 at Havre de Grace.

Havre de Grace will play either Bel Air, Fallston or North Harford. If Fallston beats North Harford Friday, the Warriors will play Fallston.

Seven of the Warriors goals were assisted in Wednesday's win.

Justin Gosnell had two goals and three assists, Chris Castillo had two goals and one assist, Mark Holloway had a goal and two assists, and Dan DiMeo had one goal and one assist. Kip Brown scored once and picked up four ground balls and Brad Davidson added a goal.

Defender Heart Martin rounded out the scoring, grabbing one of four ground balls and going the length of the field to score. Michael Laubner had four ground balls and Tyler Sylvester had three ground balls.

DiMeo and Ryan Weismiller combined to win 7-of-13 faceoffs.

Tyler Coakley made 12 saves—seven of them in the third quarter, and many from close range, coach Brooks Brown said.

The game, originally scheduled to be at Rising Sun, was played on the turf field at Havre de Grace due to rain showers earlier in the day.

The MPSSAA playoff draw for lacrosse will be held May 9.
