Are You A Messy Mom?

Are you a messy mom (or dad)? Always running the children to their activities? The one who holds all the information about everything going on in your home? The one who can never find anything on a moments' (or 10 moments') notice? Are you organizationally challenged? I can certainly relate. A large portion of the household and child rearing management falls to my shoulders, too.

Every magazine on the racks will lure you in with their 'get organized' promises. I assure you, you will find some tips in those magazines that work. But, getting organized is not enough. Have you already found this to be true? You spent three hours organizing Tommy's room last Saturday but today it is right back to the point you started from.

The problem is ‘you.’ When ‘you’ are the only one with all of the information, all of the organizing ideas and all of the energy to complete the tasks then your system is not going to work. As part of a family you need to involve your family in the home organization. You may think labels are silly but they empower even little ones to know where things go. A calendar may seem like overkill but it will enable your partner to help out with the running around. Do not be a matyr for your family and home. Share the responsibility and create systems so that everyone can pitch in.
