Flavor Intense Low-Calorie Comfort Food
Full flavor, colorful recipes that will keep you full and definitely not bored.

I bumped into a former fitness training client yesterday at the tail-end of my eight-mile run. He had lost 80 pounds since May and couldn't hold back his excitement. He said the answer for him was easy: he simply cut out pasta, bread, potatoes, and sweets. How wonderful to see the change in him, not just his size, but his energy level, self-confidence, and overall personality. Congratulations to my friend and all of you who have succeeded in making positive life changes!
If you're trying to cut down on refined sugars and processed flours but you're at a loss for what to eat, I've included below a few tasty full-mouth feel foods. I try to put as many colors of foods on my plate as possible; I find that many white foods are less nutrient-rich and are often those simple carbs that I'm trying to avoid.
However, whenever rice is suggested in a dish, I like to substitute grated cauliflower rice. Here's a recipe from Wellness Matters: http://www.bcliving.ca/food/recipe-cauliflower-rice

Tonight I'll be making Eating Well magazine's Baked Cod with Chorizo and white beans, with a side of steamed green beans: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/baked_cod_with_chorizo_white_beans.html
And maybe tomorrow, this pistachio-crusted tuna steak (also from Eating Well). I think steamed broccoli with lemon and red pepper strips will go well with it: http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/pistachio_crusted_tuna_steaks.html
