
Can you recall how many places you have lived that have the really special feel of warmth and comfort?
Well for me one of those very special places is Havre de Grace. I was a resident for many years and a local business person for longer yet. For over 40 years I have owned and still own property in Havre de Grace.
There is something unique about this place that touches your heart and leaves you feeling satisfied that it's your home. I noticed how caring and concerned the residents were as I represented them in the Maryland Senate. They have never been hesitant with their expressions to protect and maintain the sense of community and small town feel about this place they call home. Maybe it's the idyllic setting on the Susquehanna at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Could it be the many connections to the history of our country?

Many reminders are still present that connect us to our fore fathers. , , and the many historic homes still magnificently maintained around the city are but a few of the visible connections to our past.
As a former chairman of the City's Economic Development, it was and is still obvious that there is a strong commitment to maintain the city's economic vitality. These efforts are pushed and promoted by a strong Chamber of Commerce and Main Street.

Havre de Grace has become a real mecca for fine dining with a range of great dining spots the envy of much larger cities. Can you think a finer place to enjoy real scenic beauty and magnificence? You can't top a walk on the promenade or just relaxing at , Hutchins Park, or the City Yacht Basin. I'm reminded of the great opportunities afforded by the Susquehanna; boating, fishing, crabbing or just the pure joy of sitting by the water letting your eyes feast on all that is beautiful.
There is true hometown pride in the Havre de Grace Warriors with all their academic and sport achievements, little league fields, basketball courts, and plenty of park and open space available to all.
You have to feel safer here in Havre de Grace, Why? Because we have our own local police department, our very own hospital, and a great volunteer fire company: the Susquehanna Hose Company, that brags about having the fastest response time in the nation.
There is so much more that one can say and admire about this special place called Home but let me leave with two questions. Can you think of any other place like Havre de Grace? Do you sense that special feeling about Havre de Grace?
