BLOG: Moving Beyond Sales

To get the best deal this Christmas season, you do not need coupons and you do not need to wake up early to be the first in line. What you need is to treat Christmas as a Holy day, not a Holiday.

How do you get the best deal during Christmas?

As our hearts move towards the Christmas season, there is more coming than great sales. Great deals at Best Buy or Walmart do not make the Christmas season complete. Often, saving money becomes the goal of Christmas. Saving money is not the miracle of Christmas, even if it feels like it!

When Christmas is a holiday, sales matter. Saving money becomes priority over people. But when Christmas is a holy day, the Savior matters. Christmas is a time to celebrate the coming of a Savior—a Savior more interested in entering our world than us entering many stores. Celebrating the coming of Jesus trumps saving money. It is impossible to get everything God intended for us to experience out of Christmas if we reduce it down to a one-day sale.

To get the best deal out of the birth of Christ, you need to treat the Christmas season as a process, not a prize. It is a journey, not a destination. You can get everything God intended for us out of Christmas by discovering the five road markers on the road of life—hope, love, joy, peace and purity (each week’s blog topics from Dec. 4 to Dec. 25)!

That’s how you get the best deal. You can bet you last dollar on it!

Each week in December at Restore Church in our Christmas sermon series, “Undercover Boss: Christmas Edition,” will look at the life of Jesus as He traded the comfort of the corner office in Heaven for an undercover mission to change the world. In addition to our regular Sunday services in December, we’re planning two special services the week before Christmas.

  1. Join us on Tuesday, 12/20 at 7 PM for a special Candlelight Service at the Good Cause Community Center (616 Ontario Street, Havre de Grace)!
  2. Join us on Saturday, 12/24 at 5 & 6:30 PM for special Christmas Eve services at Havre de Grace’s Community Center (100 Lagaret Lane, Havre de Grace)!

Expect great things as we celebrate the birth of Christ “Undercover Boss” style!
