United We Stand
What do you think of when you reflect on the 10 year anniversary of 9/11? No one can deny the unity American's developed as we experienced a tragedy.

Last week, as I checked my calendar, I was surprised to find that August had blown by and I had been thrust into the last third of 2011. With September 1, I gladly welcomed the first meteorological day of Fall by day dreaming about the crisp fall air, turning leaves, pumpkins and vibrant colors. But despite all the wonderful picturesque paintings in my mind, one emotion overwhelmed my heart: Patriotism.
In July, everyone wears their red, white and blue to celebrate the day the United States won independence. We honor the men and women who fought and gave their lives for our freedom and liberty. But when September rolls around, I am reminded of the tragic event that took place on our soil ten years ago. My heart goes out the innocent men, women, children who lost their lives and their family’s who’s lives were changed forever. My heart stirs with passion for the day that the United States was attacked—but this attack did not give way to defeat. Rather it lead to a new birth. The birth of a nation strengthened by UNITY. So despite my dreams of fall and vibrant colors—on September 11, I gladly put away my fall colors and proudly wear my red, white and blue to honor the innocent lives that were taken, and to remember the UNITY I felt with my neighbors as we embraced a future forever changed.
This Sunday, September 11, join us at Restore Church, with worship by my band, Beyond the Veil, at either the 9:30 or 11 a.m. service, to remember those lost and to experience the UNITY that holds this nation together today. The same UNITY we wish to impart to the city of Havre de Grace and through it, to the world, as we embark on our mission to restore our community back to God.
