A train and car reportedly collided at Jackson Station Road Thursday morning, with one person flown by helicopter for treatment.

One person was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after his Hyundai Sonata slid down Jackson Station Road and into a CSX train, The Aegis reported.

The crash near Perryville was reported around 7 a.m., according to WBAL. The victim was an 18-year-old from North East, according to the Cecil Whig.

Her vehicle slid down an icy road and into the front of a 26-car train on its way from Philadelphia to Jacksonville, FL, The Aegis reported.

The train slowed down but hit the side of the teen's car and traveled 1,500 feet before coming to rest, while the Sonata landed in shrubs near the tracks, the Cecil Whig reported.

The Community Fire Company of Perryville said that one person was flown by a Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter for treatment.

The helicopter landed at Perryville High School before 8 a.m. Thursday, according to ABC 2 News.

The driver was expected to survive, Cecil Scene reported.

WBAL said drivers should anticipate an extended closure of Jackson Station Road between US Route 40 and Reservoir Road and suggested MD Route 222 as an alternate route.
