Carjacker Leads Police on Three-State Chase That Ends In Maryland

A New Jersey man was arrested in Maryland after carjacking a vehicle at a mental health facility, and then leading police on a chase that began in Westampton and went through Delaware into Maryland, according to Maryland State Police.
Trent S. Talley, 29, has been charged with first-degree carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of property and terroristic threats following a car chase through three states, police said.

Talley was been transported by ambulance to Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace for an emergency petition evaluation.
Police say they initially got a call from a man who said his car had been stolen in a carjacking at a mental health facility in the Mount Holly area at about 5 p.m. Thursday. Troopers saw the vehicle and notified Maryland Transportation Authority Police, who set up stop sticks that flattened two tires, police said.

Police said Talley had approached a medical transport vehicle and asked the driver “Do you want to die?” according to CBS 3, before stealing the car.
New Jersey State Police pursued Talley up to the Delaware Memorial Bridge before calling off the chase for safety concerns, police said.
Police said the vehicle was tracked by GPS when it was in the area of the Maryland House rest stop on I-95.
Police spotted Talley parked near the Ft. McHenry Tunnel. He was on the phone, but fled once he realized he had been spotted by police, police said. He was treated for minor injuries before being turned over to police.
Talley has been lodged on $200,000 bail. He will be extradited to New Jersey after facing charges in Maryland, police said.
Maryland State Police troopers and Maryland Transportation Authority Police officers safely ended the pursuit of a New Jersey carjacking suspect late this afternoon just before he entered the Ft. McHenry Tunnel.
