Perryville Fire Captain Hit While Helping with October Crash Dies

Barr was a firefighter with the Community Fire Company of Perryville and Water Witch Fire Company.

Less than two weeks after a vehicle hit fire police officer David Barr Sr., 65, in Perryville, he died from his injuries.

Capt. Barr was reportedly wearing reflective gear and directing traffic around a crash scene surrounded by flares when a vehicle struck him at 3:20 p.m. on Oct. 25 in the 5200 block of Pulaski Highway. No charges have been filed.

Barr was taken to Christiana Hospital in Delaware for treatment and was moved to hospice this week. According to his family, he died at 11:11 a.m. Thursday.

Barr was a fire police officer for 13 years, was a captain with the Community Fire Company of Perryville, and had retired from being a firefighter at Perry Point as well, the Rising Sun Herald reported.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
