Deck Expansion Under Way at MacGregor's

The expanded deck at the Havre de Grace restaurant should be done by May.

Reserving a spot on waterview deck is about to get a little easier.

The downtown Havre de Grace restaurant is expanding its deck seating, with work on the project already underway.

The project should be done by the first week in May, with weather playing a crucial role in the timetable of the work, according to restaurant general manager Alex Lee.

The project has been in the works for about four years, but Lee said the feasibility of expanding the deck onto a softer, sediment-based soil created some hurdles.

Lee said standing room for about 80 more patrons will be created by building the deck out about 25 feet closer to the Susquehanna River.

"It's a pretty hefty expansion," he said.

A longer bar and an area for live music will be included in the project, Lee said.
