Drop-in for Bellydance at the Creative Sanctuary

What do you think of when I say the word “art?”  Perhaps you think of the visual arts and your mind immediately travels to the paintings of Monet or great works of sculpture like the Venus de Milo.  Or perhaps you are taken to the performing arts and classically trained actors like Christopher Plummer or Judi Dench or a particularly stunning performance by the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  One genre that certainly seems to bridge both categories is dance.  It is clearly performance based, but at the same time it relies so heavily on the visual expression of the dancer that a truly powerful dance can evoke the same sense of awe-inspiring beauty that we experience when gazing upon a painting by a master.

Devra’s Creative Sanctuary, right here in Havre de Grace, offers training across a wide variety of art forms.  Devra Giles herself has been making some form of art for almost 50 years and currently works in the areas of drawing, painting, mixed media art, textiles and dance.  But it is in the field of dance that Devra is offering a unique opportunity for those of us who always claim to be too busy to pursue what we may otherwise like to learn.  The Creative Sanctuary is hosting “Bellydance Drop-in” classes every Thursday from 6:00-7:00 pm from now through December 19th.  This means that there is no advance registration necessary, no commitment to a certain number of weeks, just come in as you can and learn to bellydance for an hour.  The classes are only $10.00 per class but they will only last until December 19th.  So if you have been curious about this unique form of artistic expression, don’t miss out.

The Creative Sanctuary is located at 114 North Washington Street in historic Havre de Grace.  You can learn more about them on their website at cshdg.com or by calling (443)502-2759.
