Drug Dealing, Gas Station Holdup, Assaults: HdG Crime

From Route 40 business burglary to a man getting jumped at Hutchins Park, here's what Havre de Grace Police have been handling this week.

The Havre de Grace Police Department provided the following information.

An Edgewood man has been charged with 17 drug-related offenses after attempting to make a transaction in the 800 block of Pulaski Highway at approximately 9 p.m. on Nov. 9. The 49-year-old from the 2100 block of Railroad Avenue faces charges such as dispensing opiates without a prescription, possession with intent to distribute and causing a common nuisance by distributing drugs.

A gas station was robbed at gunpoint. At 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, a man walked into the gas station in the 1000 block of Pulaski Highway, showed he had a handgun and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect took off on foot across the railroad tracks. He was described as a black man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants.

A man was jumped at Hutchins Park by two men at 2:22 a.m. on Nov. 7. The victim sustained a minor scratch to his face. One suspect was described as a white man who was 5’10” tall, 170 pounds, with scruffy hair and dark clothing. The other suspect was described as a black man who was 6’3” tall, 170 pounds and wearing dark clothing.

There was a break-in at the China Palace in the 800 block of Pulaski Highway at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Nov. 5. A 27-year-old from the 800 block of Erie Street was charged with second-degree burglary; theft under $1,000; and malicious destruction of property. Police said the suspect threw a rock through the window, climbed in and took $300 from the cash register, then left the same way he came in.

Other Incidents

Two employees were assaulted in the 500 block of South Union Avenue. The assault was reported at 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, and the investigation is pending.

There was a possible identity theft reported in the 600 block of Water Street. A man said money had been stolen from his mother’s bank account. The report came in at 5 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Signs for a doctor’s lot were stolen in the 500 block of South Union Avenue. The theft was reported at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 9.

A house was egged overnight in the 200 block of Canvasback Drive. The report was filed at 3:09 p.m. on Nov. 8.

A window was broken in the 300 block of Whitney Court, reported at 8:33 p.m. on Nov. 7.

Shoplifting was reported on Nov. 7 in the 1000 block of Pulaski Highway related to a past issue.

A black Mongoose bike was stolen from the 500 block of Bourbon Street, reported at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 6. The estimated value was $65.

A wallet was stolen from the 800 block of Otsego Street, reported at 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 6.

A 49-year-old man from the 600 block of North Adams Street was arrested and charged with second-degree assault at 10:50 a.m. on Nov. 6. The domestic assault occurred on Nov. 5, according to court records.
