HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — To celebrate the start of the new year, the Susquehanna Hose Company will drop a foam duck from a ladder truck at the stroke of midnight in the area of the Concord Point Lighthouse. A fireworks display will follow.

Dropping a duck has been a New Year's tradition in Havre de Grace since 1999, so this year will mark the 20th anniversary of the Havre de Grace Duck Drop.

This is the second year the Duck Drop will take place near the Concord Point Lighthouse. It was moved there last year due to the construction of the new combined Havre de Grace Middle/High School. Before that, it was held at the parking lot near Havre de Grace Middle School and the Havre de Grace Activity Center.

The Duck Drop festivities will begin at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with music from a DJ. The duck will drop near the Concord Point Lighthouse, 700 Concord Street, in Havre de Grace.
