Mulch Transformation Outside HdG Library Leads to Award
David Kahl and Mark Johnson were named Harford County Employees of the Month for a project outside the Havre de Grace library.

Two Harford County employees were recently honored as Employees of the Month for October 2013 for their work at the Havre de Grace library.
David Kahl and Mark Johnson, who work in Facilities and Operations for Harford County's Department of Administration, turned a potential eyesore outside the library into something the branch manager called "lovely," according to a Harford County Government press release.
After Superstorm Sandy barreled up the East Coast last October, a large tree was damaged and had to be removed outside the Havre de Grace branch of the Harford County Public Library, the release stated.
In its place was a "big pile of mulch," where Kahl and Johnson installed a flower bed, according to the release.
“We are so appreciative of their work,” said Havre de Grace Library Branch Manager Irmgarde Brown, who nominated the two for the award.
"We are thrilled with the creation," Brown said. "The flowers are lovely and add a wonderful touch to the front lawn."
