Annual Memorial Day Festival

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.  Many groups and individuals observe Memorial Day with a wide variety of celebrations and activities.  Asbury United Methodist Church is one of these.

Each year on the Saturday before Memorial Day, our Church commemorates this day with our annual “Memorial Day Festival”.  Held on the Church grounds (rain or shine) from 10 AM – 2 PM,  official Church Records document this activity dating back as far as May 1957.  Record books show at that time it was referred to as the “Decoration Day Festival”.

Fifty-five years later, Asbury United Methodist Church, 21 Craigtown Rd, Port Deposit, MD,  will be hosting our Annual Memorial Day Festival on Saturday, May 26, 2012 from 10 AM – 2 PM.  We offer Ham Platters, consisting of Baked Ham, Dinner Roll, Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Deviled Eggs, Dessert and a beverage for $8; Cheeseburger or Hamburger, chips and a beverage for $4; or a Hot Dog, chips and a beverage for $3.  Carry-out meals are also available for the same pricing.  We will also host a Bake Sale with a variety of cakes, cookies, brownies, fudge/candies, etc.,  a White Elephant Table and a Silent Auction.  Music and other activities will also be provided.  Join us for good food, great fellowship and FUN!
