Hands-on-House Half Marathon and 5K Race On Oct.1 Presented by Susquehanna Bank
Lancaster, PA --Hundreds of runners will race along scenic country roads on Saturday, October 1, participating in the 8th annual Hands-on-House Children's Museum Half Marathon and 5K Race, sponsored by Susquehanna Bank.
Registrations are now being accepted from interested runners, walkers, and children ages 3 to 14, who can join in the “fun run.” The 13.1-mile half marathon course winds through scenic Pennsylvania Dutch roads, past a one-room schoolhouse and over a covered bridge. Events will be held at Hands-on-House, 721 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, with walkers starting the course at 8 a.m. and the race beginning at 9 a.m.

Children can enjoy the fun run -- with varying distances based according to age group – as well as a festival including face painting, tattoos, poster making and other fun vendors. Every child will receive a goody bag, refreshments, and a participation award.

Half Marathon registration is $45 through 9/28/11 at 5 p.m.
5K registration is $20 through 9/28/11.
On-site registration will be available on race day from 7-8:30 a.m. Race day registration is $50 for Half- Marathon and $25 for 5K.
Kids Fun Run pre- or on-site registration is $10 and includes a t-shirt and goody bag.
Everyone who registers by 9/9/11 is guaranteed a race t-shirt. The first 300 registrants for the half-marathon will receive a tech race shirt.
NEW THIS YEAR
New this year is the Corporate Team Challenge, consisting of a minimum of four registered runners from the same company vying for the top three Corporate Team Challenge Awards. The fastest four runners registered from a Corporate Team will have their cumulative times count towards the team results.
Free gear check will be offered for those runners who park in the satellite parking and take a shuttle bus to the race start.
Going Green – The event will recycle its waste with the assistance of Consolidated Scrap Resources.
All registered for the half marathon will receive GU Energy Gel, which is sponsoring that event.
AWARDS
There will be cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers in the half marathon, as well as awards for the top three male and female finishers in each age group. The top five male and female finishers in the 5K will also receive awards. Chip timing is provided by Score-This. The race is USATF certified #PA10005WB.
All proceeds benefit the Hands-on-House Children's Museum, which is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping kids learn and making sure they have lots of fun in the process.
