Fast Eddie's Pit Beef Closes in Havre de Grace

Pit beef lovers will have to travel a bit farther to sate their cravings.

Fast Eddie's announced Monday that its Route 40 location has closed.

The last day of business for the Havre de Grace store was Wednesday, Sept. 18, according to Charles Scheumann, Fast Eddie's founder.

Scheumann said he franchised out the Havre de Grace location to a different owner, who made the decision to close. The restaurant had been open since March 2010.

"The original two stores are open and will continue to stay open," Scheumann said.

The Fast Eddies franchise includes locations in Fallston (2800 Bel Air Rd.) and North East (10 Montgomery Dr.).

There used to be a Fast Eddie's in Aberdeen as well, but it closed after a fire in 2009, John Boyer, general manager of the Fallston restaurant, said. Boyer said he didn't know of any plans to open a new location.

The two Fast Eddie's that remain will continue serving up pit beef, pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, onion rings and other dishes on the menu. The Fallston and North East restaurants, which opened in 1996 and 2003 respectively, are under different ownership than the Havre de Grace store, Scheumann said.

"We are open," Scheumann said, noting that it was eight to ten miles from Havre de Grace to North East. "We still do catering and party platters."
