Fire Destroys Home in Grace Harbour
A dog walker reported the blaze in Havre de Grace early Saturday morning, the fire marshal said.

A house fire in Havre de Grace Saturday morning caused approximately $400,000 in damage, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
At 1:03 a.m., a dog walker noticed the fire in the 300 block of Pintail Drive, the fire marshal said.
The residents were away at the time, according to Senior Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire.

As the dog walker was passing by the home in Grace Harbour, he saw smoke coming from the basement and reported it, Alkire said.
Approximately 46 firefighters from the Susquehanna Hose Company as well as Aberdeen and Level fire companies responded, bringing the blaze under control in approximately one hour, the fire marshal reported.

Nobody was inside at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, according to Alkire.
The home and its contents were considered a total loss, Alkire said. There was $300,000 in structural damage; and items estimated to be worth $100,000 inside the home were lost as well, the report said.
The fire started in the basement ceiling, according to the fire marshal, who said the cause remained under investigation Saturday morning.
